The Doctor Who and Related Fandoms Festivities Exchange is back for another year! Dates are below, more information and updated links will be posted between now and when nominations open. The main change for this year is the addition of nominations.

Thank you to everyone who created, kudosed or commented on this exchange. There are so many great things in the collection. But let's make it better for next year!

Mod contact
I am thinking of how to make things easier for people who don't use Dreamwidth. What would people prefer (both those who use DW and those who don't) for asking questions, picking up pinch hits and asking for extensions: Dreamwidth, Tumblr asks or email?

Matching
I'm also considering matching on relationships and single characters, rather than just single characters. So you could have Thirteenth Doctor & Yaz (platonic) or Thirteenth Doctor/Yaz (romantic) or Thirteenth Doctor. AO3 won't let you match on relationships or characters, only one or the other, or both. So for this we'd need to do nominations.

This means that before signs ups open you nominate the relationships and characters you want to request or offer. Everyone's nominations are put into a tag set, then when you come to sign up you can only choose from that tag set. It also means that if a fandom/characters are not yet canonical in AO3, you can still request/offer them. What do people think about this?

Anything else
I'd also like opinions on any other aspect of the exchange. You don't have to have taken part to offer feedback.

All the works have been revealed! There are 25 works in 8 fandoms.

You may want to change the date of your work to be today's date. That way it will be on the first page for the fandom - otherwise people looking at the fandom page might not see it if they've gone as far back as the date they last checked. To change the date, click on the Edit button. Halfway down the page will be an option to 'Set a different publication date'. Select the box and then change the date. It will let you change it to any date in the present or past, but not in the future.

A feedback post will follow in the next few days.

All works are in - there are no post-deadline pinch hits! Works will reveal on 23rd November.

While you wait you can refine your work/create treats*/relax/bemoan how far away the 23rd is.

*treats are works created for someone you were not assigned to, or an additional work for someone you were assigned to. Same rules apply (so same minimums, must include at least one requested character from the relevant fandom and not include any do no wants/dislikes). The easiest way to see everyone's requests is in the Auto AO3 app.

The deadline has passed. Anyone who hasn't posted their assignment, asked for an extension or defaulted themselves has been defaulted. If you think that's an error on my part, please get in touch.

I'm waiting on some email queries. Pending the answers to those, there may or may not be any post-deadline pinch hits. Please make sure to check the email address associated with your AO3 account, as the email will have gone there.

It's a week until the deadline (almost exactly to the hour). Here's a countdown. By that time you should have done one of three things:

Posted your assignment to the collection (a draft doesn't count)

Asked for an extension (at the contact post)

Pressed the default button

If you don't do any of those things you will be banned from next year's exchange. There is no penalty for defaulting before the deadline.

You can still edit your assignment after the deadline, but it should be something you're happy to give to your recipient, in case something happens to you/your computer/your internet.

We now have a Tumblr, at https://tardis-festivities.tumblr.com/ This will be for any announcements eg pinch hits, warning that are assignments are due soon, archive is open etc. You'll still need to do any commenting here, though.

There is a pinch hit available. To claim it, comment on this post (comments are screened) including your AO3 name, and the first to comment gets it. You don't have to be signed up to claim.

You need to write at least 300 words or draw a nice sketch on plain paper for one of the characters in the associated fandom (but can include more if you want). You must not include any of their dislikes. This is due on 12th November at 7pm UTC.

The easiest way to post your assignment or to default is to go to either go to the AO3 collection, then My Assignment, or go to your account and My Assignments and find it on the page. Both offer two buttons Fulfill and Default.

Posting
If you click Fulfill it will take you to a new work page and it will fill in the collection for you. Although it will not gift it to your recipient, you have to fill that in yourself. It will then be marked as complete on your assignment.

Once you click post there will be a couple of blue boxes at the top with information. The collection is moderated, so one of the boxes tells you that your work will not show up until it's been approved. If you want to edit it before it's approved, you'll need to go to your Statistics page (it isn't in the dropdown at the top of your page, you need to be on one of your account pages to see the link to it). It will be on that page. I will be approving works more often closer to the deadline. If your work is in the queue waiting to be approved by the deadline, then that means it's in on time.

Defaulting
If you instead you click on the Default button this will list you as defaulted. It's as easy as that.

Treating
If you are posting treats, then the easiest way to do that is to go to the AO3 collection and click Post to Collection. This will fill in the collection details for you.

If you want a better way to see everyone's request when deciding what treats to write/draw then the Auto AO3 App will show you all requests by Fandom, as default. You can also choose to view by character or Freeform (Fic or Art). Or use the search tab to narrow things down even more. You can bookmark individual requests, although you can only see what you've bookmarked if you're in the same browser on the same computer and haven't cleared your cookies.

Sign ups are closed and assignments are out. There are no initial pinch hits.

If you have signed up you should have received an email with your assignment. If you haven't, then you can go to the collection and click on the "My Assignments" button. Or you can go to your AO3 account page, click on My Assignments, then go to Doctor Who and Related Fandoms Festivities Exchange 2022, which will be at the bottom above any pinch hits you've taken.

You can write/draw anything that your recipient requested, whether you offered it or not. You only need to write one character in the fandom they requested (but can include more if you want). If you find your assignment has nothing you offered it means the AO3 matching algorithm has gone wrong somewhere. Drop a comment in the contact post and I will manually fix it.

You can see which fandoms have been requested and offered in the Signup Summary once there are five sign ups and it has been (re-)generated.

You must include at least 1 request and 1 offer (to a maximum of 10), with at last 1 character (to a maximum of 20) and select whether you want art and/or fic for each request and offer.

You can edit your sign up any time before sign ups close by going to the AO3 collection, clicking on the "My Sign-up" link and then the "Edit Sign-up" button.
